I'm Offering Online LEGO-Building Classes!

Aaron Newman August 22, 2020

With a pandemic afoot—and schooling moving online in many places—parents have had to get creative about how to keep their kids engaged and growing. Everyone wants a way for their children to learn, have fun, and stay safe at the same time. As such, the parents of LEGO®-loving kids have been asking me a lot lately if I teach any virtual building programs.

I’m so pleased and excited to announce that—finally—I have begun teaching online LEGO classes you can sign up for!

I’ve partnered with TestingMom.com, an industry leader in online learning for high-achieving kids, to offer an assortment of LEGO classes, taught by me, for students ages 6-12.

Courses I’m teaching include:

Exploring Engineering

Kids' minds are opened to the incredible power and presence of engineering and architecture in our world. Each session is an exploration of a new topic, covering structures and machines from Airplanes to Zeppelins!

Ages 6-8. Mondays & Wednesdays Aug. 24-Sept. 16 @ 5:00pm ET (4:00pm CT, 3:00pm MT, 2:00pm PT).

Engineering as Problem-Solving

Kids are presented with real-world "problems" and then taught about their engineering solutions (i.e., cars for making transportation faster, skyscrapers to combat urban sprawl, etc.), which they conceptualize and gain mastery over using LEGO bricks.

Ages 9-12. Tuesdays & Thursdays Aug. 25-Sept. 17 @ 5:00pm ET (4:00pm CT, 3:00pm MT, 2:00pm PT).

Storytelling & Narrative Structure

Kids craft narrative arcs, create characters, and develop imaginative problem-solving skills with LEGO bricks as their medium. Each session, students will tell a new adventure, learning the basics of storytelling as they do so.

Ages 6-10. Fridays, Aug. 28-Sept. 18 @ 5:00pm ET (4:00pm CT, 3:00pm MT, 2:00pm PT).

A Brick History & Build Seminar

Kids learn about the history, system, and development of LEGO through time. Over the course of the week, they learn LEGO lingo, discover LEGO themes from both recent and far-flung past, and become even more "experts" of their favorite toy.

Ages 8-12. Four consecutive days, Sept. 8-11 @ 6:00pm ET (5:00pm CT, 4:00pm MT, 3:00pm PT).

Classes start this Monday, 8/24— Sign up before they sell out!

I have also started taking private students. Your child may be a candidate if they are age 12+, have exceptional building abilities, and are ready for next-level LEGO training. If you’re interested, please contact me and we can set up a consultation.
